Daniel Christianson, age 80, of Henricks, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, April 30th at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at the Hansonville Cemetery, rural Hendricks. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
Daniel Robert Christianson was born to Joseph and Alva (Johnson) Christianson on June 23rd, 1941, at the hospital in Hendricks, MN. He spent his first three months of life living with his aunts as his mother was hospitalized. Daniel was baptized and confirmed at the Hansonville Lutheran Church. He attended the Hansonville Country School through the 8th grade. Daniel attended Hendricks Public School and graduated in 1959. After graduation, Daniel farmed while working at Huber Wahlstrom Ford in Hendricks. Daniel enjoyed employment until he joined The United States Army in 1963. He served in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon returning from the service, Daniel assisted his father working on the family farm. On June 11th, 1966, Daniel married Joanne Hoffman at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Daniel and Joanne were blessed with three sons, Robert, Thomas, and Scott. Together Daniel and Joanne farmed and raised their children on the family farm in Hansonville Township. Daniel served 52 years on the Lincoln County Soil and Water Conservation District Board. He took pride and joy in promoting soil conservation programs. Daniel also served on many other boards in the area including Christ Lutheran Church, Hansonville Cemetery, Hansonville Township, Southwest Prairie Technical Service Area Board, and Lac Que Parle Water Shed Board. In Daniel’s free time he enjoyed visiting and having coffee with his friends, spending time with his family, including his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Daniel loved to attend auctions and add to his treasures. He could fix almost anything and enjoyed helping his sons with farming, excavating, and plumbing adventures.
Grateful for sharing in his life are his wife of 55 years, Joanne of Hendricks; his three children: Robert (Midge) Christianson of Montevideo, MN, Thomas (Rosemary) Christianson of Hendricks, MN and Scott Christianson of Hendricks, MN; four grandchildren: Jenna Christianson (Jaques De Kok), Caitlyn (Jayden) Rennich, Garrett Christianson (Judaya DeSmet), Cali Christianson (Cade Sorensen) and one great granddaughter, Jailyn Rose Rennich and his sister, Arlys Kamstra; nieces, Donnetta (Butch) Warrington and Cindy (Bruce) Clark; nephews Dale (Terri) Christianson and Brad Christianson. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milan; nephews Terry, Jimmy, and Doyle, and brother-in-law, Don Kamstra.
