RENVILLE (KMHL) – A two-vehicle accident north of Renville knocked out power to residents in the area of the accident briefly last night, but no one was injured.

According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the accident between a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Gerald Erstad, of Worthington, occurred when Erstad was attempting to pass a grain truck driven by Nathan Sunvold, 40, Renville, while Sunvold was attempting to make a left-hand turn.

Authorities say after colliding, both vehicles went into the drainage ditch – fortunately no one was injured in the accident. But sheriff’s officials say a power box in the area was damaged. Crews were called to ensure the scene was safe and power to the area has been restored.

Sheriff’s officials say the crash remains under investigation.
