Colleen “Coco” Rogness, age 63, of Astoria, SD passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings, SD. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery, Astoria. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, August 4th at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks, MN and will resume Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.  The Houseman Funeral Home – Birk Chapel in Hendricks is handling the arrangements.

Colleen “Coco” Angie Rogness was born November 24, 1959, to Lyle and Angie (Swanson) Peterson in St. Croix Falls, WI. Coco was born with a heart defect and at 5 years old was one of the few to survive the risky surgery. She grew up in Milltown, WI where her family lived next to a ballpark. She spent many days watching ball games from her window. Coco graduated from Unity School District in 1978. She then attended one year at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls before continuing onto Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD where she completed her LPN.  Coco was united in marriage to Philip Rogness on August 2, 1980, in Milltown, WI. Following their marriage, they resided on a farm outside of Astoria, SD before moving to their current farm as the 3rd Rogness generation. They raised their children on the farm and Coco also worked as an LPN and then a stay-at-home mom. Coco passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 63.  She was a member of GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings. She was also a member of the Gideons and was involved with Bible studies and had a passion for missions. Philip and Coco enjoyed traveling and took 10 mission trips to Cambodia. Her family was her true enjoyment in life; especially doting on her four grandkids. She also loved her dog, Oreo. Coco had many other enjoyments, including gardening, crafting, stamping, making cards, camping and cooking.

Grateful for having shared her life are, her husband, Phil Rogness; children: Jon Rogness, Crysten Rogness, Tyler (Rebekah) Rogness and April (Cal) Yocius; grandchildren: Preston Rogness, Luke Rogness, Jase Yocius and Samuel Rogness; siblings: Cherri (Robert) Palmer, Leann (Terry) Palmer, Steve (Sandra) Peterson and Tim (Christine) Peterson; in-laws: Clark (Kim) Rogness, Bert (Verna) Rogness, Kristi (Steve) Larson and Tony (Cindy) Rogness; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jenna and numerous aunts and uncles.
