Charles Killius Jr., age 93, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota. Due to the current public gathering limitations, Private Family Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A live stream of the event will be available beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Chuck’s page of the funeral home’s website. Interment with military honors will follow in the Marshall Cemetery.
Charles H. Killius, Jr., was born August 7, 1926, in Sonus Township Lyon County Minnesota to Charles H. (Sr.) and Mabel (Drown) Killius, Sr. Chuck grew up outside Marshall where the family owned and operated a hatchery. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church and attended school in Marshall, graduating with the class of 1944. Chuck enlisting in the United States Army in 1946 and served in Korea at the end of WWII. After his honorable discharge, Chuck returned home to help with the family business. Chuck married Georgia Marie Mootz on February 14, 1960. The couple made their home in Marshall and spent 37 years together before Georgia’s death in 1997. Chuck worked as a truck driver for Swift’s Turkey Plant and later worked in real estate prior to his retirement in 1990. Chuck was a very special guy, kind and humble, and cherished time spent with his dog, Maggie. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching football and baseball. Chuck was devoted to his church, he loved to play guitar and served as a Praise and Worship leader at Faith Family Christian Church in Marshall, Minnesota. He was currently a member at the Open Door Assembly Church in Marshall.
Charles Killius, Jr., died on May 17, 2020, in Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 10 days. Blessed be his memory.
Charles is survived by his dear friend Jackie Sieverding, of Dovray; sister; Zona Dahl of Arkansas; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Killius, and two siblings.
