The funeral service for Brent Baumann, 64, of Wabasso, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue on Friday, one hour prior to the service, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Lakefield Cemetery in Lakefield, Minnesota. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association in Wabasso is handling the arrangements.
Brent Walter Baumann was born on January 20, 1960, in Lakefield, MN, to Walter and Doris (Cleland) Baumann. He was baptized on January 27, 1960, and confirmed on May 26, 1974, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Brent attended parochial school through eighth grade in Lakefield and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1978. On August 2, 1980, he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Milbrath at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township near Lakefield. The couple made their home in Lakefield and Brent worked on a dairy farm with his father-in-law until 1990. Brent attended the Jackson Vocational Technical School to study Appliance and Refrigeration Repair. After his graduation, the family moved to Wabasso and Brent took a job with Woelfel Appliance in Redwood Falls. He later worked for Sears and owned his own appliance repair: Baumann Appliance Service in Wabasso. From 2008 until his health declined in 2018, Brent drove bus for Palmer Bus Service, then 4 point 0 Bus Service in Wabasso. Brent was a man with many talents. When he was young, he sang with his family in the church choir. He and his brothers sang and performed professionally as the Baumann Brothers in the tristate area and recorded four CDs. He taught gun safety and enjoyed sport shooting. Brent loved farming. He was a 4-H leader and enjoyed his two cylinder tractors. He enjoyed hunting and time spent with his family on the Baumann Family Farm. He also enjoyed his 1962 Chevy Impala. He jokingly referred to his vehicle and his beloved wife as his “Two Favorite Red Heads..” Brent had an excellent sense of humor and a quick wit… He made friends easily and always made others feel special. He enjoyed watching Star Wars and Star Trek. Recently, he took up smoking meat and cheese as a hobby. Brent was passionate about his faith and his love for the Lord. His health problems began with an aortic dissection in 2016 and he never lost faith through his difficult health journey.
Brent died on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his residence in Wabasso. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Beth Baumann of Wabasso; children Megan (Eberhard) Engel of Northfield, Brittany (Paul) Kellermann of Mayer, MN, Holden Baumann of Clements, MN, Kaitlin (James) Hohenstein of Mankato, MN, Preston Baumann of Wabasso, MN; grandchildren Eberhard III and Erhard Engel, Levi, Keira, Hallie and Ella Kellermann; siblings LaNell Rossow of Lakefield, Walter (Mary Lou) Baumann of North Mankato, Randy (Deb) Baumann of Milford, IA, Myleen (Kurt) Swanson of Lakefield, Karl Baumann of Tracy, Helane (Nyles) Gentz of Buffalo, MN, Guy (Susan) Baumann of Chester, SD; mother-in-law Patricia Milbrath of Jackson, brother-in-law Ken Harrison of Sioux Falls, SD, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Doris Baumann, father-in-law Ed Milbrath, sisters Merla Jean Harrison and Julie Baumann and in-laws Doug Howe, Dennis Rossow and Gloria Baumann.
