Bonitus (Bonnie) J. Kodet, 90, of Cross Lake, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Nursing Care Center in Crosby, Minnesota. A Public Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 11 at 5:00 pm at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home of Redwood Falls. The interment will be at 10 am Friday, March 12, 2021 in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. A public visitation will be Thursday, March 11 at 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Nelson- Hillestad Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass Service will be live streamed on YouTube under St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Redwood Falls.
Bonitus J. Kodet was born on January 6, 1931 to Joseph and Louisa (Senkyr) Kodet Henryville Township, rural Olivia, Minnesota. Bonnie joined the Navy in 1948-1952, serving during the Korean War and attaining the rank of RD3. Bonnie worked for and managed Chandler-Wilbert Burial Vaults of Redwood Falls. After he retired, he and Lois moved to Cross Lake, Minnesota to live on Lake Velvet where they enjoyed sitting on the deck watching and enjoying the wildlife and outdoors. Bonnie interests included fishing, hunting, game shows, Fox News, Holy Cross Catholic Church, VFW Cross Lake and neighborly visits.
Bonnie is survived by sons, Larry (Sonya) Kodet of Blaine, Minnesota, Lynn (Danette) Kodet of Fairfield, California, Lee (Rita) Kodet of Tyler, Texas. Nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bonnie is preceded in death by his wife, Lois and ex-wife Audrey, 3 brothers, Elmer, Leonard, and Otto, and sister, Angie. Brandy, their dog who loved to run around the cemetery for exercise.
