Warner Brothers announced yesterday that a fifth “Matrix” movie is in the works.

It’ll be written and directed by Drew Goddard, he’s the guy who wrote “Cloverfield”“World War Z”, and “The Martian”.  One of the original creators, Lana Wachowski, will executive produce.

It’s still pretty early on, so there aren’t any plot details yet, like if it’ll be a direct sequel or have any returning characters.  There isn’t even a potential release date.

An executive says, quote, “Drew came to [us] with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the ‘Matrix’ world, by both honoring what Lana and Lilly [Wachowski] began over 25 years ago . . .

“And offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters.”
