Anna Jean Beckering, age 90, of Edgerton, Minnesota died on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. Out of an abundance of caution for friends and loved ones, services for Anna Jean will be private. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton. Colonial Funeral Home in Edgerton has been entrusted with arrangements.

Anna Jean Beckering  was born to John and Henrietta (Achterhoff) Schoolmeester on July 2, 1930 on a farm near Chandler, Minnesota. When she was four years old, she moved with her parents to a farm near Edgerton, Minnesota where she attended school in District #44. She continued her education at Edgerton High School. After her high school graduation in 1948, she helped on her parents’ farm. On November 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Beckering in Edgerton. Following their marriage, they lived on the Beckering family farm where Anna Jean raised their five children and helped with the farm chores. Richard preceded her in death on August 30, 2008. After his death, Anna Jean continued to live on the farm. In December of 2018, she became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center where she passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 90 years, six months, and one day.  Anna Jean was a member of First Reformed Church in Edgerton. She and her husband spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona where they both enjoyed playing pool and were in numerous tournaments. Anna Jean also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and doing fancy work. She especially enjoyed sewing and used that talent to make clothing for her children.

She is lovingly remembered by her five children, Marilyn Folkerts and her husband, Doug of Edgerton, Marlene LaVigne and her husband, Mike of Moose Lake, Minnesota, Donna Kuipers and her husband, Warren of Mesa, Arizona, Lelin Beckering and his wife, Jana of Garvin, Minnesota, and Barbara Van Eck and her husband, Mark of Hendricks, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jerold Schoolmeester and his wife, Sophie of Edgerton. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Ryan Beckering; one brother, Clarence Schoolmeester; and one sister, Grace Landhuis.
