Alpha D McNamara (Grannes) – The funeral service for Alpha McNamara, 93, of Rice, MN, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Belview Cemetery.
Alpha was born on October 16, 1928 at Echo, MN to Henry and Agnes (Schjenken) Grannes. She was baptized and confirmed at 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belview which is now Grace Lutheran. As a small child the family moved from Echo to the family home in the valley – north of Belview. She attended school at District 10. On July 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Donald McNamara. In the early 1960’s they moved to Cottage Grove, MN. For the next several years she worked for Kinder Inc.in Saint Paul Park. In the mid 1970’s they moved to their home on Mille Lacs Lake in Onamia- and worked for Linman Garment factory. She enjoyed sewing, music and the outdoors. She loved both the lake and her family.
Alpha died on Friday, October 7, 2022, under hospice care at her residence in Rice, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; brothers Harold, Louis and Leland; daughter Shirley; a stillborn baby; and an infant grandson. She is survived by her children Marjorie, David, James (Geraldine); 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren.
