RENVILLE, MN — A 31-year-old Olivia woman was hospitalized Friday morning after an accidental gunshot wound to the leg, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a 911 call came in around 7:02 a.m. on December 5 reporting the injury, which occurred in a parking lot at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville. The victim was being driven toward Olivia Hospital when law enforcement and the Olivia Ambulance Service were dispatched to intercept the vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle outside Olivia, where they found the woman suffering from a non-life-threatening leg injury. She received care at the scene before being transported to Olivia Hospital and later transferred to St. Cloud Hospital. She remained in stable condition and is expected to fully recover.

A handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
