Randy Alan Westphal was born in Canby, Minnesota on February 1, 1952 to parents Alan and June (Vizecky) Westphal. He was raised on the family farm near Canby and he graduated from Canby High School in 1970. After graduation he attended MN West taking Production Ag classes. Randy worked for various farmers prior to starting his own farming operation and later he worked for Canby Farmers Grain Company where he retired from after 32 years of employment. He continued to help others farm especially with his son.  On April 1, 1972 Randy was united in marriage at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church to Kathleen Ann Rehn. To this union they were blessed with Heather Jo, Ryan Randy and Cerrisa Marie. Together they raised their family and instilled values of hard work and dedication. Randy was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  Randy enjoyed farming and everything about it, even if he wasn’t farming he liked to visit about farming. Camping, fishing and four-wheeler rides were enjoyed in his spare time. Tinkering and teaching his grandchildren about life and all it has to offer was especially important to him. He will be remembered for being the “jack of all trades” for there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out.

Grateful for having shared Randy’s life is his wife of 52 years, Kathleen; his children: Heather Sperl of Miltona, MN, Ryan (Beth) Westphal of Canby and Cerrisa Heath of Luverne, MN; his seven grandchildren: Jessica, Caleb and Danielle Sperl, Abby Westphal, Kira, Reinha and Briella John and his seven great-grandchildren: Anthony, Annabelle, Kylee, Adeline, Alieah, Marco and Harlo; one sister, Lorie (Mark) Ludwig; his in-laws: Keith (Betty) Rehn, Lois (Curt) Olson, Rick (Glenda) Olson and his father and mother #3, Lewie and Bernie Miller along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his infant son; one grandson Justin Sperl; son-in-law, Mike Sperl and his parents, Alan and June Westphal and his parents-in-law, Reinhold and Agnes Rehn.
