BALATON, MN — A 19-year-old man died following a rollover crash early Saturday morning in rural Lyon County, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after midnight on December 13 to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Lyon County Road 63 and 120th Street, south of Balaton. Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and rolled, sustaining extensive damage.

Two adult men were found injured outside the vehicle and were believed to have been ejected during the crash. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Talan Greve, was unconscious and unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to Sanford Tracy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A passenger, 18-year-old Hunter Gilbertson, was conscious and responsive. He was taken to Sanford Tracy Hospital and treated for his injuries.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, continues to investigate the crash. Alcohol impairment is suspected to have been a contributing factor, and authorities believe seat belts were not in use.

Assistance was provided by the Balaton Fire Department, Balaton Ambulance, and Tracy Ambulance Service.
