SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA (KMHL) – There are no known fatalities or serious injuries, but there was significant damage after a tornado touched down last night in Sioux Falls.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado touched down in southern Sioux Falls around 11:30 last night. Reports indicate the twister did significant damage to 37 structures, power lines and trees in the area where it hit.

Authorities say there were a few minor injuries reported.

Fire officials say the area of the city that received the greatest impact was bordered by 26th Street on the north, 85th Street on the south and was between Marion Road and Cliff Avenue.

Reports indicate that both the Avera Behavorial Health and Avera Heart Hospital took damage from the storm.

The weather service plans to survey the damage from the storm today.
