MARSHALL (KMHL) – Southwest Health and Human Services has announced the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in a person from Lyon County.

According to a press release from the agency, the person is currently out of the state and is following recommendations set by the MDH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Southwest Health and Human Services says while this is the first confirmed case in Lyon County, it is likely circulating in all of our communities. Health officials warn those who are sick to stay home, wash your hands often, cover your cough, and avoid touching your face.

They also are asking those who are sick to call the hospital or clinic before you go in.

Heath Radke had a chance to talk with Southwest Health & Human Services Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Lauren Mellenthin on KMHL on Tuesday afternoon about Lyon County’s first case.
