MARSHALL (KMHL) – There was a good turnout for the first annual Hometown Heroes walk, held last night in Independence Park.

The event was held to say thank you to servicemen and women, police officers, fire fighters, emergency responders and clergy members for their service.

“Sometimes we spend a lot of time on people who take from the community, these are people who give to the community,” said Byrnes. “That includes our emergency responders, our EMTs, our firefighters, our police officers, our clergy, our veterans and all of those who have offered their service and made our community a better place.”

Family and community members joined those groups for a 1-mile walk and a time to gather and talk – just to say thank you.

The event was a kickoff to Sounds of Summer Weekend.
