ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD)  —  The looming presidential election in November ramps up the pressure on Minnesota lawmakers as they return to work this week.

The legislative session starts Tuesday.

The current political climate suggests little progress will be made on divisive issues like gun safety and recreational marijuana.  It is possible there will be positive movement on helping Minnesota diabetics be able to afford insulin.

The parties share the power meaning they need to find a compromise on a bill funding infrastructure improvements.  They are far apart on what they want to spend right now.
