MARSHALL (KMHL) – Community Transit starts scheduled route service between Marshall, Balaton and Tracy today.

United Community Action Partnership says the routes will begin at 6:45 a.m. on week days in Tracy. The route will run multiple times each day between Marshall, Balaton and Tracy.

“We really want this to be useful for people,” said Nick Leske, UCAP Community Transit Operations Administrator.

The routes will not be limited to specific stops, but generally plans are for regular stops at Sebastian Park, Park Place and Veteran’s Memorial Center in Tracy, Lions Park in Balaton and the Marshall Walmart.

Leske says the main purpose of the “Purple Route” is to make county-wide travel easier for everyone. He adds that route service that covers key locations in Lyon County has been in discussions for a long time. He said when the county expressed interest, they wanted to make it happen.

“With Lyon County’s support, we had the backing we needed to get things moving,” added Leske.

There is a detailed schedule on the United Community Action Partnership website.
