Charlene “Chuckie” Christie, age 70, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Houseman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Charlene “Chuckie” Mae Christie was born December 6, 1948 in Clear Lake, South Dakota to Delbert and Florence (Geisler) Winter. She was a 1967 graduate of Clear Lake High School. In 1969, she married Larry Christie from Canby and became a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Together they had one daughter, Laurie. For over 20 years she worked in many positions for the local grocery store including the store manager. She also worked as a clerk at Canby Liquors.
Chuckie enjoyed bowling, watching all game shows (especially the Price Is Right), reading, playing a good game of cards, spending lots of time with her granddaughters playing store, making art and “cooking” and “sampling” many of the tasty treats in the play kitchen. Her cooking was absolutely fabulous and she enjoyed sharing her love of cooking with others. Lastly, she enjoyed beating her daughter in any board game she could!
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Chad) Johnson; two granddaughters: Jenna and Amber; Larry Christie, former husband and long-time friend; an older brother, Dallas (Shirley)
Winter; younger brother, Steve (Lynette) Winter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Chuckie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence and Delbert Winter; and former mother and father in law, Violet and John Christie.
