MARSHALL (KMHL) – A violent fugitive wanted for drug sales and illegal weapons possession was arrested in Marshall yesterday.

According to the Twin Cities Apprehension Team, authorities arrested Mitchell William Sprick at an apartment building in Marshall following a standoff. Authorities say they were able to confirm he was hiding out in a Marshall apartment with a female.

The apprehension team coordinated with Marshall Police to conduct an investigation which led to a negotiation after Sprick barricaded himself inside of a bedroom of the apartment. Officials took Sprick into custody about 45 minutes after entering the apartment.

“Whenever someone is wanted for crimes of a serious nature and guns are involved, it’s a dangerous situation,” said lead investigator Stew Peters. “When that person refuses to cooperate with law enforcement, and is intentionally and unlawfully hiding to avoid arrest and prosecution, that makes it even more dangerous. Mr. Sprick was a threat to the general safety of the public, and the good work of our team as well as the Marshall Police Department achieved the best result possible. Everyone went home safe.”

Officials say he was wanted on drug and weapons charges from Chisago County.
