Womack Plays 225 Holes In The Heat For Chairity
The "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" breast cancer campaign and the Marshall High School athletics department are getting a little extra financial help after yesterday's golf marathon from Troy Womack. On one of the hottest days of the summer Womack played 13-hours and around 225-holes yesterday at Savannah Oaks Golf Course to raise money for the organizations. Womack says the inspiration behind these two organizations as opposed to other was from his wife and son. "Two years ago this December my wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer," said Womack. "Things are going well for her now, and I have one son who is going to be a sophomore in high school, and their weight equipment is wearing out so I thought we'd split the money right down the middle." It wasn't the first Golf Marathon he had been involved in. He did one years ago, in Nevada. "I did one 20-years ago, when I lived in Reno for Junior Golf," said Womack. "One of the courses in the area had a marathon and we raised money locally." Donations were collected at Savannah Oaks, Marshall Hyvee, and the Home Federal Bank.
