Dept. Of Health issues well watter warnings

Well owners are being advised to take steps now to deal with potential contamination, both before and after the flood.

John Linc Stine, assistant commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Health, says that if flood waters come within 50 feet of a well casing, it will have to be pumped out, disinfected and tested before the water can be used again.

He says city water systems are unlikely to become contaminated because city wells are generally well-protected.
